Cultivating ICT talent to foster digital transformation in Uganda
Huawei Technologies is glad to announce the upcoming campus recruitment program which aims at shaping tomorrow’s workforce by offering campus finalists and fresh graduates exciting opportunities to kickstart their careers in various disciplines.
The recruitment program is set to take place at Kyambogo University, Central Teaching Facility on 2nd July, 2025 starting at 1000hrs.
This activity will offer participants with undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications from various universities across the country an opportunity to engage with industry leaders, network with company representatives, explore career opportunities, and be part of the company’s mission to drive technological innovation in Uganda and beyond.
With the theme of "The sky is the limit" and the slogan "A better U for a better Uganda", Huawei’s primary goal is to identify and empower exceptional talent, provide them with a robust training to sharpen their skills, contribute to cutting-edge projects, and advance their careers within a collaborative and innovative environment.
Furthermore, Huawei aims to contribute to the growth of the Ugandan tech community by providing young professionals with the tools, resources, and platform they need to thrive and advance in this rapidly evolving sector.
Attendees and aspiring professionals will also learn about the company’s commitment to sustainability, gender equity, and its global impact through the various cooperate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives such as the Huawei ICT competition, Seeds for the Future program and the Huawei DigiTruck project which are all aimed at empowering local communities and promoting sustainable innovation.
The recruitment program offers comprehensive training system for new employees, focusing on employee career development and establishing a capability development system through the following,
1. Mentor coaching: Every new employee will have a one-on-one mentor after entering the company. The mentor will not only arrange the work of the new employee, but also solve problems in the work, helping the new employee quickly achieve a transition from "campus person" to "workplace person"
2. Learning in Practice: Huawei provides opportunities for new employees to take on more responsibilities, participate in project practice, work independently and learn new skills at work to achieve key contributions.
3. Integrated training & practice: Huawei provides various types of training for new employees, as well as training based on different positions in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Engineering, Software Engineering, Finance, Procurement & Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources, Administration and Public Management
4. Self-learning: Huawei has many excellent learning platforms and resources, such as "ilearning platform" and "3MS platform" where many experts share their knowledge and work experience, access learning documents about company systems, processes, and tools, as well as many sharings of the latest knowledge in the industry. New employees can continuously learn and improve themselves.
