RegTech expands its council

 



In a strategic move to amplify its influence and effectiveness, the Organizing Committee of the RegTech Africa Conference has announced the expansion of its Advisory Council into three dynamic tiers: Global, Continental, and National. This development aligns with the conference’s commitment to fostering transformative dialogue and partnerships that will redefine Africa’s economic future through collaboration and innovation.


The expanded Advisory Council brings together an exceptional roster of experts and thought leaders from across the globe, representing diverse sectors and regions. 


These distinguished individuals will provide strategic guidance and thought leadership to ensure the success of the 2025 RegTech Africa Conference and Awards, scheduled to take place on May 22-23, 2025, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria.


Themed “Unlocking Africa’s Cross-Border Payments, Trade, and Investment Opportunities through Public-Private Partnerships,” the conference is poised to address critical issues and forge actionable solutions for Africa’s economic integration and growth.

Can African countries leverage their vast natural resources to earn better revenue?

  BY PAUL TENTENA IN ADDIS ABABA African countries could leverage their vast renewable energy resources, tropical forests, peatlands, and marine ecosystems to export premium carbon credits, providing a new revenue stream, according to the 2024 Economic Report on Africa by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) launched at the recently concluded tenth Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD-10) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The report says, carbon markets could support Africa’s goals of resilience and prosperity, in line with Agenda 2063. Uganda receives first batch of crude line pipes

BY PAUL TENTENA Another milestone in the construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) has been reached with the first delivery of nine trucks loaded with coated line pipes at Main Camp and Pipe Yard (MCPY) 4 in Kyotera District, Uganda. The coated line pipes will be transported to designated storage sites and laid along the 1,443-kilometer heat-traced crude oil pipeline.  The EACOP will transport Uganda's crude oil from the Hoima Terminal in Uganda to Tanga Port in Tanzania, where it will be exported to international markets. To date, the project has received 800 kilometres of line pipes, which are currently undergoing coating and insulation at the Nzega Coating Yard in Tanzania.
